BOYLE TEAMS TAKE GOLD AND BRONZE IN COUNTY FINAL

Last Friday nights Community Games Under 14 Quiz County final saw two Boyle teams in the medals. The Boyle A team of Killian Doyle, Ronan Flanagan, Tara Duggan and Jonah Tighe took first place. This team, who were narrowly beaten into second place at last years County final, led the other thirty one teams from the beginning of the quiz. The contest between the next four teams was tighter with the Boyle B Team of Alan McCauley, Matthew Callan, Cliona McDermott and Sean Brogan securing a bronze medal at their first time participating in the event. The winners will now represent County Roscommon in the National Community Games Final in Athlone in May. Boyle Community Games would like to acknowledge the support and co-operation of the teachers in Corrigeenroe N.S, St. Joseph's Boys National School and Scoil na nAingeal Naofa in helping to prepare their students for these quizzes.

BOYLE COMMUNITY GAMES - CHESS AND DRAUGHTS TRAINING

Training for those interested in competing in Draughts at U-10, U-12 & U-14 or Chess at U-16 will start on Saturday next, February 11th at 2.p.m. in St. Joseph's Resource Centre, Abbeytown.

If you are interested in taking part but are not able to make training on that date please e-mail your details to the Committee at boylecommunitygames@gmail.com.

County Chess finals are on Friday, March 2nd and Draughts Finals will take place on Saturday, March 31st.

BOYLE COMMUNITY GAMES ART, MODEL MAKING AND HANDWRITING COMPETITION

On Saturday February 11th, Boyle Community Games will host the Community Competitions to select competitors for the County Finals in Art, Model Making and Handwriting. The competitions will take place at 4 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Resource Centre, Abbeytown.

The Art and Model Making competitions are open to U-8, U-10, U-12 and U-14. The works produced must have a Community Games theme and entrants should bring their own art materials. The Handwriting Competition is for U-10’s.

Entry to each competition is €2.00. First and second place competitors will qualify for the County final which will be held in The Hyde Centre in Roscommon on March 24th.
